Guangzhou Open qualification matches Hong Kong’s Cody Wong against Emerson Jones, listed as US in the event data, on outdoor hard courts. The winner moves closer to the main draw; start is 24 October 2026, 06:00 UTC.
Cody Wong: Hong Kong hard-court base
Wong represents Hong Kong and has played mostly ITF and regional hard-court events. Her strengths are court coverage and rally tolerance; qualifying will test whether she can absorb early pressure and keep return games competitive. Public results suggest she prefers extended points.
Emerson Jones: listed US, junior-development profile
Jones is listed under the US flag here, while public profiles have linked her to Australian junior tennis. The matchup tests Wong’s consistency against a younger player moving through junior and lower-tier pro events. No official head-to-head is available, so form and adaptation matter more than rankings.
