David Goffin faces Alex Michelsen in the European Open on Antwerp’s indoor hard courts. The match pairs a veteran Belgian with a younger American prospect.
David Goffin’s baseline craft and Antwerp context
Goffin, a former top-10 Belgian, is known for early ball-striking, clean timing and court coverage. Public reports suggest indoor hard courts suit his return and point construction, though the Antwerp crowd does not guarantee an edge.
Alex Michelsen’s aggression and the Goffin test
Michelsen, an American rising on the ATP Tour, tends to play flat, aggressive groundstrokes and step inside the baseline. The matchup tests his patience and variation against Goffin’s defence; his ranking and form should be treated cautiously.
